ADANTE has the undeniable look of his sire, but his dam Dazzlin Dundee has a story of her own to tell.

Dazzlin Dundee is sired by Texas A&M stallion Dundee Colonel, a sweet-dispositioned dun AQHA stallion used by the students for the equestrian team in reining. If anyone ever sees him canter, they fall in love.

The control, the collection, the power and magnificence of his canter are what make his daughters such incredible broodmares for breeding Aztecas. Not to mention his beautiful head and neck with long-flowing mane and tail. He is about as close to the Andalusian look as a Quarter Horse can be.

But then he also has some incredible breeding power behind him with NCHA Futurity Champion, NCHA Hall of Famer, and leading sire of NCHA, NRHA, and NRCHA horses - Colonel Freckles, and the incredible sire of the 50s, Big Step. Big Step sired 10 World and Reserve World Champions and 3 Supreme Champions! Supreme Champion is AQHA's highest achievement. He continued rank in the top quarter of the leading sire lists for AQHA hunter and western pleasure horses even 50 yrs after his birth!

Dazzlin Dundee's dam is Sheza Popper. I say "is" because this 1978 mare may still be alive! This big mare was also a nice mover with an incredible canter/lope. I sold the mare at age 27, and the last few years she was still being used as a riding horse on the trails at Bush Intercontenental Airport. They opened the surrounding land up to registered equestrians to help police the land against terrorism.

Sheza Popper was sired by AQHA Champion and Superior Halter Horse, Johnnie Popper. He sired a World Ch Yearling that sold for $100,000 among the 6 World Champions that he produced before an early death at 5 yrs old.

Sheza Popper has numerous lines to Plaudit, the AQHA grandson of Kentucky Derby winner Plaudit. One of the Plaudit sons repeated close up is AQHA legend, Question Mark. Question Mark's offspring and descendents dominated the show ring as well as the race track for years to come. Sheza Popper also has a lot of Skipper W (Hank Weiscamp) line breeding, and other Race and Performance breeding such as Cowboy, Midnight, Bert, Joe Reed, and Leo.

Sheza Popper was bred to big name stallions when she was younger. I recall them having show records. I acquired her at age 21— little did I know she was a mare I once knew as a child. She was a broodmare on Sonny and Maryanne Bishop's ranch that owned Yellow Fever. I still raise Fever horses and train Maryanne's sister, Kathie twice a week. Kathie took the awesome pics of Adante at the show.
